Hey people,

Ehen, warragwan? So I read this post of pastor M on her blog here and it almost got me teary…. Titled While I still stand… You could literarily feel her heart beat… Really we should take out time to appreciate people while ‘we still can…’ I was re-reminded of that when I did the thanksgiving post for my birthday week. That period, my blog got the highest hits… Humans WANT and NEED to be appreciated constantly. Behind that adult that’s feeling all macho and stuff lies a child who just wants to be hailed every once in a while. Which is why it is not uncommon for me to send you a message out of the blues just saying “I appreciate and love you’ I am always wow-ed at the response that greets that. Like Elder Gbo mentioned to me then, it is good you are thanking all these people while they are still alive. Flowers to a dead man are usually worth squat if they didn’t know you cared while they lived… So there you go sweetie, gratitude is the way to go….

And yes ooo, Pastor M hailed me on her blog. She actually publicized my blog. Yay!!! Kisses mmuch ma’am…Well, when I saw my blog while reading hers, I remembered I had a blog. 😮 So I literarily pushed my project aside right here in the library and decided to upload this… Tz been burning in my mind for sometime and I have shared same with a few Christian friends and constantly we are reminded to pray and act concerning same.

Mal 3; 3 is a scripture most of us would easily overlook. Just focus on verse 3…

I visited with my LOVER GIRLfriend who i call Olaedo, sometime last week and we were sharing deep, really DEEP spiritual things and then she opened my eyes again to this scripture which I had read before.

Then I decided to go and dig out this story I saw online at some point. It touched me then, but I had promptly forgotten it. Today more than ever, that scripture BURNS me… I doubt I can ever forget it again… I will just copy and paste the story right here for you guys to read and i will share my thoughts at the end.

DISCLAIMER; This is that kinda DEEP stuff that will not have the same effect on us all, but if it touches you, please DO SOMETHING… Christianity boils down to ONE THING… LOVE… and love is not a passive something ooo. We have all been called to LOVE actively. Literarily SIT… As that refiner and purifier of silver. Please enjoy the story.

Refiner and Purifier of Silver

Malachi 3:3 says: “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.”

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: “He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.” She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?” He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that’s easy — when I see my image in it”

The Refiner in this story is GOD. Ok so yes God has to sit through the fire and holding us in. While we are in the fire, the Refiner too is feeling the heat of the same fire. But He too has no choice. He has to SIT through it all, till he sees his image in the silver. The story has two lessons, but lemme focus on the pain the Refiner has to go through with that piece of silver. It is NOT an easy process ooo. Sometimes the silver takes FOREVER to get refined but he must SIT. No matter what happens, he must sit because that silver is VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM.

Ok, you do know that God has called us to be imitators of him right? Ok some of you don’t know.  Lemme add a screen shot of that verse of scripture.

Ok now go back and read that story again, substituting you for the Refiner. Did that hit you?

I have this group of young-uns with whom I started a bible study in my room. I am soooo excited about it. Amazing pre-university girls. They are growing in the Faith and they see me as a mentor and model of sorts. Interestingly on day 1, I decided to share with them THE NATURE OF GOD. I told them that God was LOVE and He had called us to love like him NO MATTER WHAT… I did not share the above story with them cos this is hardly the time. I will share it at the right time. But Wow!!! They had plenty of questions for me… What if the person is really annoying? She gives me attitude? She insults me? She is unlovable? She gossips about me? Blablabla they went on and on… I had the same answer… If you ONLY love those who LOVE you, nne what makes you different from the next person who is not a Christian. That’s the kinda higher calling God has called us to… To literarily SIT THROUGH THE FIRE, LIKE A REFINER AND PURIFIER OF SILVER… SIT… SIT… SIT… SIT through it all, even with the most annoying person, till you see the reflection of God that is LOVE, in them… Nobody says it comes easy. That refiner does not remain seated in an air conditioned room. He too is feeling the heat. But he has to sit. He is pressed, he has to SIT. His BB rings, HE HAS TO SIT. That’s literarily what I am living my life for and as long as grace still avails, I intend to live SITTING… some of you reading this blog now even know your are like that silver to me but i will SIT through it, till i see my FATHER’S image in you…

Dear Christians, SIT… It is a selfless yet BEAUTIFUL way to live…

  2. ‘Loving the difficult one is the true way of loving’…….. My Precious P,thank you for reminding me the basics/rudiments of love and how we both learnt during our freshman year….thanks to PSSF. You are indeed a rare type…… Love u lots.

  3. This is Amazing! I love the scripture about God being a refiner and purifier of silver. It reminds of of the scripture about the potter and the clay. The potter has to choose the clay, beat it, heat it, and mold it into different shapes and sizes. If the clay isn’t ready, he puts it into the kiln a little longer to make it more pliable. This heat is sometimes good for us! 🙂

  4. Omg! I absolutely LOVE the analogy of God as the purifier/refiner here..It definitely hit me. Even more so, that I am required and called as a Christian to be a refiner/purifier. WOW!..just amazing. Thanks so much for this. Reminders like this are sometimes needed to get back on the right, Christ-like track 🙂
