Move over BORING Personal Bible study with my 5 SUPER TIPS

Sleeping off while Bible reading? Is Quiet time a snooze-fest? Not only do I enjoy ridiculously my Bible study time, I LITERALLY cannot do without it. So, if you would like to supercharge and actually ENJOY your time with the Word, keep reading.

Hey Saints,

Thank you for dropping by here, and I am especially excited about the topic on the table today.

BIBLE STUDY!!!

Gosh, I LAAAAAVVVVV the Word of God like you know, and I have a few posts here that let you into my obsessions.

Meet My Bibles

Quiet time

My Bibles are like my most prized possession, and I truly do get a KICK (sometimes literally) from reading them.

Now, DISCLAIMER: If you are looking for something really deep, this is NOT the Post for you. There are many websites online, some of them such huge blessings to me, that take you deeeeeeper into an exegesis of the WORD.

Here, I just wanna share with you, almost like Beginner stuff, so that you have the tools that you need to keep on growing and not regress.

Spiritual maturity is so GOALS for us, and reading, actually enjoying, your Bible study time is a GREAT place to start, so as you consume, from milk to meat to bone, you can attain full stature in the WORD and not be like this BABY Christian here.

Ephesians 4 v 13b-14a NLT Measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children.

Ready, Set, GROW
They are so easy, but please don’t despise them.

1. Grab an English Dictionary

This goes without saying, but most of us don’t know this simple yet SUPER hack.

When you read a book and you don’t know the meaning of a Word, it is OK for you to get online and google or grab your dictionary, but with the WORD, we somehow think the English dictionary is heresy.

How do you INTERPRET the Most Revered King James English with Oxford Dictionary?
LOL

My sister, please, grab a dictionary and find out the meaning of words, complete with synonyms and antonyms, even if you KNOW the meaning, still check a dictionary sometimes.

For example,

Proverbs 18 v 22 NLT
The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord.

So you can choose to google TREASURE and then you see

Valuables, Jewels, gold, precious metals, fortune

You see how much more you know, that way you have engaged the WORD a little deeper than just that surface. Then we move to the next…

2. Assssssssk Questions, especially by engaging the antonym

If you are familiar with the Book of Proverbs, a lot of it is words and opposite.

When we engage a word by finding its opposite, it brings even deeper understanding to it. This is one HACK I learned from Apostle Joshua Selman, and it really brought more richness and depth to my study life.

So when I encounter a scripture, especially one jumping at me, I take some time to further engage by asking questions with the opposite

For example,

Proverbs 11:25b NKJV

And he who waters will also be watered himself.

So this automatically means that those that don’t water, aka never take the time to INVEST in others, will soon dry up and be irrelevant.

Then I advise myself to remain a stream and fountain that is constantly watering even when I don’t feel like it because the alternative is to shrivel up in dryness.

3. Find pictures and videos

This one especially makes the WORD come alive. It moved from 2D black ink on white paper, to 3-D living words. This is where Google and YouTube help, and I especially LOVE it.

Currently, a project I am working on has me reading Exodus almost daily as Moses built the Tabernacle. One day, I just decided to even get online and see if I would find pictures of videos and I was just BLOWN away by what I saw, both in 3D and real life replicas, and it brought such richness to my study.

Now I know what the altar which God says must always have fire burning on it looks like, what the horns on the altar look like, and the table of shew bread.

I also LOVE to watch video clips of some Bible stories with my kids as it brings it to live for them. Some of our fave are the catching of many fish by Peter and his brother Andrew, the parting of the Red Sea, and various healing miracles of Jesus.
The Chosen, Super Book and a few random channels on YouTube are my BEST plugs for these.

A colorful Bible Dictionary or a Study Bible with images also helps as they have pictures of what some of these things look like.

4. Write it down

Kai. I saw a scripture the other day that thrilled me endlessly

Depths of purpose and layers of meaning saturate everything you do…

Psalm 92 v 5b TPT
And how deep are your thoughts

WOW

When something is DEEP usually, we write it down. How much more the revelations we get as we study the Word.

When a scripture ministers to you, grab your journal and write it down word for word in various translations. And write in the FIRST PERSON, using I that is, not just WE or YOU or THEY.

Make it personal.

Then as you practice steps 1 to 3, also write down what you are learning.
Thoughts are captured and crystallized in your mind as you take the pains (and pen) to write them down.

5. Goooooo deeeper with Hebrew and Greek

This is just a natural progression of things as we study the word. If you regularly practice points 1 to 4, you will find yourself wanting and desiring to go deeper. Please accept that invitation of the Holy Spirit pulling you in deeper and INVEST in a Concordance and WORD Study Bibles.

English can be so limited and so much is lost in interpretation, from Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic to English, so go deeper.

I had an experience recently as I was praying through a certain verse

Psalms 37 v 4 kjv
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart

You know how it is easy to just claim that this means that whatever I desire, He will give me.

However, I felt a need to STUDY it deeper, as I know God is not a genie-in-a-bottle looking to meet every highfalutin and maybe even destructive desire I have.

I was RIGHT.

What the DEEPER Hebrew meaning of that word DESIRE literally translates to is that God gives me WHAT TO DESIRE, meaning that I don’t just desire a car and 3 houses and expect Him to give it to me, instead, HE PUTS IN MY HEART WHAT TO DESIRE, and since He is the one that puts it, then I can be sure that it would happen.

That set me SO STRAIGHT so I even had to write that scripture and paste on my laptop like this

Thats all my 5 tips. I pray they help.

Above all, don’t forget to invite the Holy Spirit of GOD who breathes life to scriptures into your every study and reading time.

Hey, your turn.

What would you be starting RIGHT NOW to apply as you study your Word?
What else do you do to supercharge your Bible reading time?
I would love to know, and so will others who come here to read. Let’s grow together.

To your SPIRITUAL GROWTH and MATURITY

    These are so so good.
I’m going to start writing things down in different translations and checking out the Bible verses in the source languages

I sometimes use The Bible Project YouTube channel as an educational and visual resource. Their videos have been really useful (and quite interesting to watch) for me.
