So here am I. Time check; 8; 45am. Location; Murtala Muhammed Airport.
And I will be here for about two more hours…
So I am on a trip and my flight is 10.30am. I took a cab out of Ibadan at about 6am calculating with my mortal head that it would take me at least 3hours to get to the airport in Lagos and maybe another 30mins to get to the airport. You may have noticed that I exaggerated the timings. I factored in the legendary Lagos traffic and again I was coming in during the morning rush hour. i definitely didn’t want any more airport drama Aint no traffic like a Lagos traffic. Oh well, PH probably trumps us but their traffic is annoying and boring. In Lagos, the many amazing radio stations keep your company and make it bearable some.
Anyways, traffic be damned, the road was as free as free gets. I got to the airport not even Lagos before 8am. Yes granted the cabman really flew but it was a safe kinda fast. I tweeted a bit in the cab, and then closed my eyes for approximately 32mins and voila dude was on airport road. Jeez!!!
Meanwhile something funny happened this morning. I got to the Ojoo Park in Ibadan, and I was torn between taking a bus or a cab. I really should have just gone for the cab but it was empty and I was in a hurry so I decided on the bus and wrote down my name on the insurance sheet. You know how it goes; your name, phone number, next of kin, phone number and destination. About 50seconds after that, the cab was full but one person so I jumped ship. Told the dude in the bus, who by the way had helped me in, to please strike out my name on the sheet.
10minutes or so into my road trip, my phone starts ringing. As a rule, I don’t pick calls before 7 or before I do my morning devotion, and after 9 in the night, especially if it is not a family member. Unknown numbers are not even an option. This was an unknown number and although I had prayed, it was barely 6am. So I didn’t pick. The caller was persistent and so I picked. It could be Drogba for all I care. Time zone difference be blamed. Guess who it was? Jeez!!! It was the dude in the bus. He just called to wish me a safe journey and say it was nice meeting me. I was like SERIOUSLY!!! Dude actually retrieved my number from the sheet. I mean that should be a crime, punishable by a few days in kirikiri abi? Lols… It was not funny though. I said a polite thanks and dropped the phone. Next came a text message which i will just summarize cos it was long. Oopsss!!!! I already deleted it, it said something like “Your face appeared like a sunlight to me this morning but only for a short while before fate took you away bla bla bla…” The things we pretty ladies see… Yes I am GLOATING!!! I mean my hair was all packed up, no glitz no glam, I had no makeup on. But the bus and even the Park was well illuminated. I didn’t find it funny though, being that I had lost a little more of my privacy. Anyways I’m sure I haven’t heard the last of dude so I will probably block his calls. Add his number to the many blocked ones 😉
Ok so back to the airport. Thus far I have spent about 15mins typing this, ipod playing my fave lastest Joyce Meyer’s podcasts, and I still have a LONG time here.
After the usual but this time UNDRAMATIC check in routine and me asking for and getting a window seat, going past immigration and dazzling them plenty smiles to help me get past with drinks and all, I got to the waiting lounge and the first thing I do is to scan round for a nice person I can sit with. Could be a pretty girl or guy, both around my age. I sincerely didn’t need toasters. The lounge was somewhat empty so I picked an empty row and sat, whipped out my make-up case and started applying my makeup in the full view of the Lounge that was getting busier now. See if I care!!! Hehehe. After I was done about 20mins later, I whipped out my laptop, and decided to do a few blog posts. I mean e don tay wey I write na. Pardon me darlings, I can’t lie, I may not be able to keep up with regular blogging. I’m in over my head already with work and a few projects so i will write when I can and not promise that this would be regular for a while. Is that aii? Yea, I thought so too. So, I look for my modem in my handbag and I realise that I actually left it in my luggage that I checked in… boo hoo. Anyways I decided to still type it and then i will send it via Bluetooth to my blackberry and then copy and paste from MS-Word to wordpress for blackberry. Yay!!! Talk about max-ing technology.
You guys know how I love to write and picture blog you guys through it all. But I don dey use eye scan this lounge and mehn!!!! I can’t find someone around me that I can ask to take me a picture. And I can’t do it myself and take a good one…
Give me a quick minute and I’m sure i will find someone I can bat my well mascaraed eye lashes for. Hehehe…
Ok this didn’t even take a second. Some CUTE GUY (wink) just walked up to me and asked me if I had my blackberry charger, and we are even going the same way. So he is even happy to take the pictures. You see…. I always have what I say. Ok so here are some of em shots…
Meanwhile I would write a few more blog posts today. As much as I can. I want to say something about IDJA and Daniel Anderson 🙂 . I know it’s been over flogged but my opinionated self won’t rest till I add my own thoughts to it. And I come with a different flava, trust me.
I also want to write a blog post which I have titled in my head ‘AS E DEY HOT’
Hehehe, you have to wait for that one now…
Ok end of article. I would add a few more pictures for your viewing pleasure. One with my tortoise (more of that later tehehe) and another of mine that i just absolutely love.
I intended that this would be a short article. Well, it wasn’t. I have given up on trying to keep my writings short especially my blog posts.
Have a great day darlings…
Cheers and love
